Lesson Two: A Model of an international hero

(Mohammed Yunus, the banker of the poor)

 Time:

50 minutes

Grade level: 18-19, students

Materials Needed:

Power point & the textbook

Handouts A and B

Objective:

1. To help students discover the qualities of a hero.

2. To help students discover the actions of a hero.

3. To help students understand why heroes are important.

Procedure:

1. Play a video from you tube showing peoples' lives in India or Bangladesh. Participants guess the country in which this video was shooted. Participants answers some questions asked by the teacher about the video.

2. Divide participants into 6 groups. Presents the topic about "Mohammed Yunus, Banker of the poor" using power point.  Ask students to read some slide loud as away to engage them in the process. Through the presentation asks participants some questions about some points in the presentation and encourages students to do the same if they don’t understand something.

3.      Distributes handout A to be answered by participants in groups and Sets time limits to finish the task. Each group represents their work in front of other groups.  Ask for clarification if anything is unclear, and encourage students to do the same if they don’t understand something that someone wrote.

Assignment

   

 Distributes hand out B to be answered by individuals as homework. Encourages students to read the textbook to help them answering the questions.
