My Hero Project
Lesson Four: People on the Heroes Who Inspire Them
(Family heroes)
 Time:
50 minutes

Grade level: 18-19, students

Materials Needed:
Two stories about family heroes
Handouts A

Objective:
  
1. To categorize hero types
2. To identify their own living heroes.

Procedure:

1.  Explain to participants that they are going to read two different stories written by to two different people about the family hero. They have to identify the authors' names and authors' heroes.

2. Distribute handout A about the two stories to individuals. Give the participants about 10 minutes to answer the worksheet. Participants have to choose only one of the stories and try to answer the questions provided in the handout.

3.  After everyone has had a chance to read a story and contribute to the handout, hold a discussion about the two stories. Ask students what the noticed about the story they read. Where they surprised by the choice of hero? Was the author good in his choice of his/her hero?

   4Challenge participants to think about a hero in their own lives like the ones they read            about.  Provide participants with a list of some famous heroes in the world if they feel stuck and unable to make their mind  about their own heroes.
